About Justin
Before joining Leavitt Group, I was an owner and agent of a Farmers Insurance Agency with offices in Durango and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Prior to my work in the insurance industry, I owned a sales and distribution business in southwest Colorado, working with chain grocery stores like Walmart, Safeway, Albertsons, Kroger, plus many independent stores and Mom and Pop locations. I have worked for Kraft Foods in retail sales and have an extensive history in sales, management, and service in both retail and the food and beverage industry.
Clients, associates, and friends have said they appreciate having an advisor and the consultative approach I bring to finding solutions for their businesses. Clients feel empowered and more knowledgeable in making their business decisions through our assessments process. The owners and decision makers I help know they have a trusted friend who truly cares and works hard to bring them solutions that ultimately affects their bottom line. I focus on contractors and construction, hospitality, cannabis, professional liability, worker’s compensation, bonding, and restaurants including fine dining establishments and bars.
I have a degree from Fort Lewis College, where I studied business administration, focusing on entrepreneurship and marketing.

I am a Colorado native, raised in Denver until I was thirteen, and then moving to Durango for the remainder of my childhood. My wife and I attended college in Fort Collins and loved living there for six years, but we always knew we wanted to come back to Durango to be closer to family. We now have two beautiful boys. As a family, we love to ski, camp, hike, mountain bike, and fish. My wife and I alternate reading stories to our boys every night and truly cherish the time we have with them.
Years ago, my good friend, mentor, and previous Tae Kwon-Do instructor, Rene' Larricq, convinced me to leave Farmers Insurance and come to work with him at Leavitt Group. I was enticed by the resources and ability to work with numerous types of businesses and ultimately to be able to say "yes" to writing business. I was able to work with and then perpetuate Rene's book of business as he slowly headed into retirement.
I love working in our community, whether it be volunteering with the Durango Elks Lodge for our veterans and children's scholarships, or through the High Noon Rotary Club where amazing work is done locally and around the planet in so many different capacities. Insurance is another way to help and give back to our community – by helping people before things go wrong. And when things do go wrong, I'm always happy to help.
