Distracted Driving is Never Okay
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3,308 people were killed and an estimated additional 289,310 people were injured in crashes involving distracted drivers in 2022.
Talking or texting on the phone, eating, drinking, or simply chatting with passengers can all contribute to distracted driving. Anything that diverts the attention of the driver from the road ahead could be the cause of a fatal accident.
In an effort to encourage safe driving practices and habits, several organizations have set out to campaign for and invite all drivers to pledge against distracted driving, including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Safety Council.
