Ionela Day

I was born and grew up in Aiud, in the northwest of Romania. I attended Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania, and graduated in 2000 with a double major in environmental science and biology. After graduating, I worked as an environmental specialist for Aiud’s municipal government for four years, before I decided to continue my education on a different path. As a result, I moved to the United States and earned a degree in business management.

After finishing my business degree, I began my career with Griffin Owens in 2009 as a receptionist. Three months after joining the firm, I obtained my Property and Casualty (P&C) license and worked as an insurance advisor for the next three years. Subsequently, the management team at Griffin Owens promoted me to a leadership position where I managed the administrative department, optimizing and coordinating the agency’s daily processes.

In 2017, I became the vice president of operations, managing the local IT function. During this time, I evaluated and successfully implemented numerous enterprise software applications.

Additionally, I’ve continued to develop my industry knowledge by pursuing advanced insurance certifications. For example, I recently earned my Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation after ten years in the industry.

In addition to managing the agency’s operations, I was promoted in 2023 to lead our personal insurance department, and in March 2024, I became a firm co-owner and was named president of operations and personal insurance.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my husband, three kids, and two dogs. I enjoy exercising and taking long walks and hikes, which allows me to spend quality time with my dear ones.
